The four employees at the tech company Balivija in Bombay were more than surprised yesterday when two tons of bananas were delivered to their office. Thinking this was a joke they first refused to sign the delivery receipt. However, it soon turned out that the company had indeed made the order, or more specifically, the company’s automatic ordering system had done so.
Kabir Kurinji, CEO of Balivija, told TTN that the company is investigating what happened. Kurinji can confirm that Mary (the ordering system) did place this peculiar order, but cannot explain why. Meanwhile, the bananas have been donated to a nearby school.
”That felt like the right thing to do,” Kurinji said with a smile. ”We calculated that it would take us a year and a half to eat all those bananas. Besides, I don’t even like bananas.”
